OnePlus Reveals No 2 Phone

Gutsy smartphone maker OnePlus reveals a second take on the lower cost "flagship killer"-- the OnePlus 2, a metal-clad upgrade featuring an improved camera, more RAM and a USB Type-C port.

Oneplus 2Superficially the handset appears to be identical to the OnePlus One, since it features a near-identical 5.5-inch 1920x1080 display (if one the company claims is brighter than the original). Construction is in magnesium alloy with replaceable back covers, while powering the device is a 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 810 chipset, 3/4GB LPDDR4 RAM and a 3300mAh battery.

Further features include 16 or 64GB of storage, 13MP rear-facing camera complete with dual-LED flash, fingerprint reader and the aforementioned USB Type-C port-- the company adds a tangle-free cable with dual-reversible ends comes included. The OS of choice is Android 5.1 as modified with the latest version of the OxygenOS skin.

Like its predecessor the OnePlus 2 will be initially available on an invite-only basis, with such limited preorders to open from August 2015.
