Samsung Batteries Go Bendy With Stripe, Band

Samsung reveals the Stripe and Band at InterBattery 2015-- a pair of flexible batteries the company describes as nothing less than "an embodiment of the age of wearable batteries."

Samsung batteriesThe two batteries are very thin, with the more flexible Stripe being just 0.3mm thick. The Band is the fatter option, but provides up to 50% more battery power. At the show both are shown built-in a number of wearable devices.

The Stripe is as flexible as a fibre and has "innovative" energy density. According to Samsung it is adaptable to various forms, such as necklaces, hairbands and t-shirt accessories, and withstands up to 50000 "bends."

Fitness wearable maker Polar takes on strapless heart monitoring as it launches the A360, the first device from the company making use of optical heart-rate monitoring technology.

Polar A360The company is the inventor of the first wireless EKG heart rate monitor, and as such should know a thing or two about both technology and health. The A360 looks like a barebones fitness tracker, with a waterproof rectangular module sitting in a silicon band. Control comes through a colour touchscreen and a small multifunction button on the side, while a microUSB port handles charging duties.

The First Apple Beats Speaker

Beats reveals the first speaker (if not first complete new device) since it was acquired by Apple-- the Pill+, a slightly larger number than the original Pill featuring a tweaked design.

PillPlusUnlike the completely pill-shaped Pill, the Pill+ has a flat panel around the middle housing the power and volume controls. A Lightning cable handles charging duties, and Beats claims battery life clocks at 12 hours on a single charge.

Mobile device connectivity comes via Bluetooth, with a companion app handling the pairing of multiple phones or tablets with the speaker or adding of a second Pill+ for even louder sound.
