Monster Loses "Made for iPhone" License

Monster learns the consequences of going against Apple-- the Wall Street Journal reports Apple has pulled Made for iPhone (MFi) certification from Monster's range of Lightning charging cables and headphones.

Monster headphonesThe reason? Monster says it is retribution for a January 2015 lawsuit filed against the Apple-owned Beats accusing Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine of defrauding and "betraying" Monster CEO Noel Lee when the two companies parted ways in 2011.

A startup named Enlighten proposes an interesting means for environmentally-conscious customers to recycle old smartphone batteries-- the Better Re, an accessory turning such batteries into power packs.

Better ReAccording to the company, the average smartphone gets replaced after 18 months of purchase, meaning many perfectly usable batteries (with remaining efficiency of around 80%) end up either in the trash or in the bottom of a drawer. The Better Re reuses such batteries to provide extra juice for currently used mobile devices, hitting two birds with one stone.

Mophie Battery Case Gets Waterproof

Mophie launches a battery case addition ideal for the summer season-- the Juice Pack H2PRO, a version of the earlier Juice Pack Air battery case for  the iPhone 6 as updated with waterproofing and device protection.

H2PROThe Juice Pack H2PRO carries a 2750mAh external battery as combined with IP-68 and MIL-STD 810G rated protection against drops, dirt and water. Construction is in "multiple layers of shock-absorbing materials," ports are water-tight and the display gets a built-in protector.

Mophie says the case protects against water at of up to 1.2m for 30 minutes. Meanwhile the screen protector allows regular use of all functions (including buttons and Touch ID) as it defends against scratches and glare.
