Smartphone camera lens maker Moment proposes a means to turn the iPhone 6 into an interchangeable-lens camera-- the Moment Case, a handset case complete with bayonet mount and hardware shutter button.
Described by the company as "the fastest way to take better pictures with your phone," the Moment Case features a rubberised grip on the back and securely holds Moment's own 18mm wide-angle and 60mm telephoto iPhone lenses via bayonet mount. However the most interesting addition is a hardware shutter button. Separately powered by a coin cell battery, it pairs with the iPhone via Bluetooth LE and provides DSLR-style fine-tuned shutter controls with half and full presses.
Button controls are customisable through the companion Moment app, so a half-press can lock focus and exposure while burst mode can be triggered by holding the button down. On-screen sliders provide further camera controls (such as exposure levels).
The Moment Case is currently available on a preorder basis on Kickstarter, where it already made nearly three times an initial $100000 pledge goal. Following the crowdfunding campaign the case should hit the market sometime on June 2015.
