Customers curious about the possibilities of virtual reality yet cannot afford a headset? Homido might have a solution at CES 2016-- the Homido Mini, a small accessory for the viewing of smartphone-powered VR experiences.

The Homido Mini consists of a plastic frame and a pair of lenses. It allows users to enjoy any VR app compatible with Google Cardboard by simply attaching the frame to an iOS/Android device, without need to actually wear a cumbersome (if not outright uncomfortable) headset.

The frame folds into a pocket-size package, and allows access to 1000+ VR apps and games. Homido even offers a curated selection of compatible VR software on a Center app.

Also seen at CES is the Homido V2-- another smartphone-powered VR viewer, if in actual headset form. The company says the upgraded headset offers more comfortable face contacts, a capacitive control button, better image adjustment, automatically adjustable frame and a better fit for the larger iPhone 6+.

"When Oculus first made its debut, we realised most of a VR headset was already in everyone’s pocket,” the company says. “So why make them buy all that equipment again, when all they need are the frame and lenses? Using smartphones for VR just makes sense.”
