SanDisk announces the Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-II card-- a microSD card the company claims offers the fastest transfer speeds of up to 275Mbps (or 3x faster than microSDHC UHS-I cards).

SanDisk cardSuch speeds, the company adds, make the card ideal for customers recording large amounts of video on smartphones, drones or action cameras.

“Action cameras are now the fastest-growing segment in digital imaging and drones are becoming increasingly popular, creating an opportunity for people to capture more high-capacity, high-quality 4K UHD content,” SanDisk says. “We designed this card specifically to address consumers’ needs for a faster solution when transferring massive files – and now, with nearly 3x the speed of our fastest microSD UHS-I card, this new offering dramatically reduces time spent transferring content.”

The Extreme PRO features Class 10 and UHD Speed Class 3 (U3), and comes in 64 or 128GB capacities. Shipments start from Q2 2016 in a package including a convenient USB 3.0 card reader.
