LG Claims First Nougat Phone

LG announces the upcoming V20, the flagship successor to 2015's V10, will be the first available running on Android 7.0 (aka Nougat) out of the box once it hits the market sometime on Q3 2016.

LG V10Such a revelation is perhaps unusual, since Google usually tends to debut the latest Android iteration with its own Nexus smartphones. Then again, LG is a long-time Google partner, having built the Nexus 4, 5 and 5X, and as such might have traded a few favours for Nougat honours.

That, or Google plans to release the next Nexus generation at around the same time.

Very few details are known about the V20, but it is expected to retain at least some of the features making the oddball V10-- namely the tiny display above the main screen and dual front-facing cameras handling selfie duties. No tech specs are actually available, but Korean news site Sedaily insists the phone runs on a Snapdragon 820 CPU, carries 4GB RAM and offers either 32 or 64GB of storage.

More details on the V20 should be available ahead of the device's official debut at IFA 2016.
