Customers wanting a smartphone with the biggest possible screen-- something better described as a phablet-- get a Xiaomi option with the Mi Max 3, a handset with a 6.9-inch 18:9 aspect ratio display.
The big IPS LCD display handles 2160 x 1080 resolution and has slim bezels, making for a fairly slim device considering the size. Being a mid-range smartphone, the Mi Max 3 runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 CPU, with 4/6GB RAM, 64/128GB storage (expandable via microSD card) and a hefty 5500mAh battery complete with QuickCharge 3.0 allowing it to charge from empty to 71% in an hour.
Further features include a rear-facing dual-camera setup with a main 12MP shooter with an f/1.9 lens and a secondary 5MP sensor handling depth-sensing duties. It can shoot 4K video at 30fps, as well as 120fps slo-mo video at 720p. On the front is an 8MP camera with an f/1.7 aperture lens.
The Mi Max 3 is available in China in a choice of blue, black and gold colours. Xiaomi does not give word on a European release as yet, but seeing how the company is currently pushing into our side of the world we expect an announcement soon enough.
