As the idea of a foldable phone starts working its way into the global consciousness, customers will inevitably ask whether protective cases for such devices will ever exist. The answer to this question is yes, at least according to one accessory maker, Spigen.

Spigen fold casesSpigen shares the prototype designs of 3 such products with The Verge, all aimed for use with the Samsung Galaxy Fold. All promise to accommodate the folding aspect of the smartphone, while offering adequate protection. The three prototypes are fairly similar in terms of design, with a front cover protecting the top and bottom bezels of the 4.6-inch outside display and cutouts for the triple-camera setup on the back.

The 3 products are dubbed the Tough Armor, Ultra Hybrid and Thin Fit, with the names suggesting whether the case offers a thick plastic case or a translucent wrap. All cases are made out of plastic and silicone materials, and have a hinge right in the middle. The hinge differs between cases, with the Tough Armor case being in a "special constructive structure."

Spigen plans to launch the cases in April, around the time the Galaxy Fold hits the market.
