Details Leak on Huawei P30 Smartphones

Huawei promises to fully present the P30 smartphone line later in March 2019, but WinFuture claims to have the full skinny on the two devices, including the full specs and official images.

Huawei P30The P30 comes in 2 flavours, regular and Pro, with the Pro being (obviously) the more high-end option. One reportedly very interesting feature in the P30 Pro is a big rear-facing camera offering no less than 10x zoom, a feature WinFuture say is the result of hybrid zoom. Essentially, the phone uses a periscope system to achieve the equivalent of 7.8x optical zoom. This is combined with data from the camera sensor and software enhancements to bring about the 10x figure.

As for the actual rear-facing camera array, the P30 Pro includes a 40MP f/1.6 main lens, 20MP f/2.2 wide angle lens and a small ToF (time-of-flight) sensor for depth data collection. A notch houses the front-facing camera, and while WinFuture fails to tell the details it seems to lack an IR sensor, even if it is still capable of face unlocking, presumably in less secure fashion. Further security comes through an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The P30 Pro appears to be a big phone, with a 6.47-inch OLED display doubling as a speaker. Inside are the latest Kirin 980 8-core chipset, 8GB RAM, 128/512GB storage (expandable via Huawei NanoMemory cards) and a 4200mAh battery. Construction promises IP68-rated water resistance, and the phone seems to lack both a headphone jack and 5G support.

Moving to the regular P30, the handset is smaller at 6.1-inch. It carries the same Kirin 980 processor as the Pro, if with 6GB RAM, 128GB storage and a 3650mAh battery, but also includes the same in-display fingerprint sensor and IP68 water resistance. The rear-facing camera array is not capable of 10x zoom, and lacks the ToF sensor.

Huawei should officially unveil the P30 devices on 26 March 2019.
