Adding Magnets to Audio Jacks

A new startup proposes a means for customers to add MagSafe-style magnetic connectors to traditional audio jacks-- the Magzet, a 2-part connector compatible with all devices featuring a standard 3.5mm jack.

MagzetThe Magzet consists of the MagJack (fits over the jack) and the MagKap (fits on device audio ports). The pair "snap" together via magnets, and disconnect easily in case of sudden movements.

The makers promise the Magzet allows for "superb" audio quality while not hampering cable inline control functionality. Also supposedly solved is the issue of devices diverting audio to non-existent headphones should the MagJack be plugged into Android/iOS smartphones and tablets without the companion MagKap.

Stockholm-based MyFC presents the latest version of its hydrogen fuel cell technology at Mobile World Congress 2015-- the Jaq, a slim and portable backup battery product usable with all USB-compatible devices.

MyFC JaqThe technology inside Jaq is more or less similar to that found in the previous MyFC fuel cell product, the PowerTrekk. The charger mixes salt and water (in the shape of a cartridge) to produce hydrogen. In turn, the hydrogen produces electricity, with the only by-products being heat and water vapour. The only difference is the Jaq is a much slicker rubberised sleeve, while the cartridges are slim and credit card-size.

Microsoft Intros Foldable Keyboard

Microsoft launches a more portable version of its cross-platform lightweight Universal Mobile Keyboard at Mobile World Congress 2015-- the self-descriptive Universal Foldable Keyboard.

Folding keyboardLike the Universal Keyboard the Foldable version is compatible with all iOS, Android and Windows devices and, like the name suggests, users can fold it in half for easy stowing in bags or even jacket pockets. Magnets hold the keyboard closed once folded.

It is all of 11.5mm thick when folded, and unfolds into a full-size keyboard measuring 29 x 12cm. Users can pair it via Bluetooth with up to 2 devices, with a button handling the switching between devices.
