One of the more charming CES 2015 offerings brings to mind a childhood toy-- the Bionic Bird is a 21st century update on the mechanical toy bird, being an app-controlled flying drone created by the grandson of the creator of the original Tim Bird.

Initially funded back in November 2014 on Indiegogo, the Bionic Bird is described by its creators as nothing less than a "furtive drone." Like the mechanical bird toys of old it does little more than flap its wings to fly, if with the inclusion of battery power and remote control via Bluetooth, mobile device and companion iOS and Android app.

Taking care of charging duties is an egg-shaped "Turbo-Charge" accessory holding enough power to charge 10 flights lasting up to 8 minutes each.

Seagate launches the Wireless at CES 2015-- a 500GB portable wireless (hence the name) drive the company says is designed to provide further storage the users of all mobile devices.

It is compatible with all iDevices, as well as Android and Windows 8/RT smartphones and tablets, via companion Media app. Setup simply involves connecting devices to the drive via wifi. Once connected it also handles the sharing on content on smart TVs and STBs over Apple Airplay or the Google Chromecast.

Seagate adds the Media app also includes an auto backup feature for the creation of secondary copies of photos and videos, while the drive's battery lasts for up to 6 hours on a single charge.

Griffin Technology releases four mobile device charging accessories at CES 2015-- the PowerDock Pro 5-slot charging slot, the 3-port PowerBlock 3 wall charger, the PowerBlock Wall Dock and the 12V PowerJolt Premium car charger.

The PowerDock Pro features 5 slots and ports for customers to store and charge multiple devices from a single power source, with 12W of power and what Griffin calls "ChargeSensor" circuitry to optimise charging for each device. The charging slots carry devices without need for removing from cases, and a built-in cord management system complete with hidden compartment takes care of cables.

Sony announces a means of turning any regular piece of eyewear into Google Glass-style "smart" glasses with the "Single-Lens Display Module", a device light enough for users to attach their glasses.

The module carries a colour 640x400 OLED microdisplay, an optical unit and a miniature control board complete with processor and sensor hub. Connectivity comes through wifi and Bluetooth.
