The iPhone 6 Gets a Headset

Smartphone-powered VR headsets are hardly a new idea, but that doesn't stop Cordon Media from taking on the concept with the Pinć (pronounced "pinch"), a portable iPhone 6-powered headset with an interesting UI.

Pinc headset Whereas most VR headset are aimed at games and other "immersive" applications, the Pinć is designed for casual use. In fact, Cordon Media believes the one killer app for VR, other than gaming, is online retail-- and for this reason the Pinć features a Minority Report-style gesture-based UI via a pair of wearable LED-studded rings.

The LEDs provide a means for the headset to track hand movements, allowing wearers to interact with virtual objects. To make selections, one simply presses a button on the underside of the ring.

The iPad as Kitchen Companion

DropDrop announces the Connected Scale and companion recipe app, a combination of digital scale and interactive recipes allowing customers to turn their iPad into a kitchen companion of sorts.

The concept is simple enough. The Connected Scale displays the weight of ingredients on the the iPad display (following connection via Bluetooth LE), while the app provides step-by-step recipe instructions complete with videos and real-time monitoring of ingredient weights on the scale.

Photography and Printing Via Prynt Case

A French hardware startup wants to combine the instant printing of Polaroid cameras with the convenience of smartphones with the Prynt, a case with a built-in printer for instant physical copies of selfies and the like.

PryntSet for a near future launch, the Prynt supports devices up to 4.x-inch in size-- although the company also promises a mount for larger handsets such as the iPhone 6 Plus or Galaxy Note. It connects physically with smartphones, and uses of a companion app to record videos and securely store files in the cloud while one is taking photos.

Logitech launches the Keys-To-Go-- a standalone portable Bluetooth keyboard for use with the all iPad generations, with keys offering tactile feedback even while fused into a water-repellant FabricSkin covering.

Keys-to-GoIt is 6.1mm thick, weighs 180g and carries a rechargeable keyboard promising up to 3 months of use on a single charge.

Logitech also announces upgrades to its current keyboard-equipped iPad case linups-- meaning the Type+ and Ultrathin cases are now compatible with the iPad Air 2.

Jawbone Intros Up3, Up Move Trackers

Jawbone launches a pair of fitness trackers, one targeting the higher end of the market, the other the lower-- the Up3 multi-sensor health-tracking wearable and the puck-shaped Up Move tracker.

Jawbone Up3A successor to the Up24, the Up3 is the most sensor-heavy Jawbone fitness wearable yet. It features an tri-axis accelerometer, bioimpedance sensors (use tiny electric currents to measure heart rate, respiration rate and galvanic skin response), skin sensors and an ambient temperature sensor, and the company claims it automatically detects a wide range of activities, such as running, cross-training and sports.

The actual hardware comes inside a Yves Béhar-designed water-resistant wristband, with a new easily adjustable clasp. Like its predecessors the Up3 features no display, and battery life clocks at around 7 days.
