USB DoctorHDfury releases what it claims is a means to safely turn any USB port into a fast-charging port-- the USB Doctor, a tiny (weighs all of 7g) device able to speed up device charging times by up to 2 times.

According to the company it not only provides a universal connector for just about any device (including iOS/Android tablets and smartphones, joypads and other gadgets), it also turns regular USB cables into dedicated "charge-only" cables.

It supports PC USB ports, power banks, car chargers and travel chargers, and also prevents the malware and accidental data exchange risks brought about with using charging kiosks.

Sony Takes on Smartglasses

Sony takes on the smartglasses category with a Google Glass clone of sorts-- the SmartEyeglass, essentially a pair of chunky frames with transparent lenses able to overlay information on one's field of vision.

Smart EyeglassAccording to the company the lenses are 85% transparent, 3mm thick and act as a monochrome display, allowing for higher brightness and lower energy consumption. Meanwhile the frames pack an array of sensors, including a 3MP camera, accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, brightness sensor and a microphone.

Power comes from an admittedly hefty battery pack users need to carry around in their pockets.

A Keyboard for all Devices

Logitech announces the K480 Bluetooth multi-device keyboard at IFA 2014-- a perhaps self-explanatory device the company describes as "the first desk keyboard designed for use with up to three devices."

K480 keyboardIn other words, customers can use it with up to three Bluetooth-enabled devices (Windows or Mac PCs, iOS or Android smartphones and tables), with an "Easy-Switch" dial allowing for, well, easy switching between whatever it is connected to.

It features a full-size keyboard layout complete with all familiar shortcut keys, and an integrated stand in which one can slot a tablet or smartphone.

Apple Confirms Rumours With Watch

Apple finally reveals the one device we've truly been waiting for, one CEO Tim Cook says the company has worked "incredibly hard" on-- the much fabled Apple Watch (NOT iWatch!), a wearable device Cook says is no less than "the best watch in the world."

Apple WatchEssentially a squarish device with a a dial on the right, the Watch features metal construction, a flexible sapphire Retina display and multiple bands in different materials, it is also said the be the most customizable and "personal" Apple device yet.

Greeted with nothing less than a standing ovation at the Flint Center, the Watch features what is admittedly one of the most interesting Apple innovations in recent years-- a dial-based UI, which the company calls "Digital Crown." It allows users to fluidly zoom into the display, make precise adjustments and control apps in different ways, all with a minimum of touch-based controls.
