Patriot ships its reinvention of mobile wireless charging technology, the faster-charging FUEL iON family.

Everyone likes wireless charging (eliminates cords and makes charging as easy as setting your phone down) but the lack of charging speed has been a real down-side.

Now FUEL iON tackles that problem. Patriot says FUEL iON delivers speeds as fast as corded charging, and definitely more speed than induction charging. Because it isn’t using induction charging…

FUEL iON uses the power of magnets to charge mobile devices. “Induction charging was a great step, but it failed to deliver when it came to charging speed,” says Mike Chang, Product Manager at Patriot.

FUEL iON is a full power solution that includes a protective phone case and charging base. FUEL iON features a magnetic power transfer pad that uses neodymium magnet technology to automatically secure the phone when it contacts the charging base.

Once the FUEL iON case is securely docked, the user can view the phone in vertical or horizontal orientation. The FUEL iON iPhone case kit features a slide in protective cover with a unique hold- in-place slider that offers easy access to buttons and ports.

FUEL iON offers multiple charging bases, phone cases, and car chargers to suit different user’s different lifestyles.

Misfit, maker of the Shine activity tracker, launches a means for customers to keep track of sleep patterns-- the Beddit Sleep System, a "paper thin" sensor designed to be placed on mattresses, just under a sheet. 

According to the company the sensor is "the world's thinnest," and tracks sleep cycles and sleep quality through heart rate, respiration, movement, snoring and ambient sound. In turn it pushes collected data to smartphones equipped with a companion Misfit app via Bluetooth. 

It also provides a variety of "gentle sleep sounds" and even ensures users are woken up during light sleep cycles. 

Hardware startup Devant plans to add wireless charging to the iPhone 5/5s with the Pond Project-- an Apple MFi-approved charging case, tray and fob adapter ecosystem based on the Qi wireless charging standard. 

The flagship Pond device is the Stream, a Lightning connector-compatible Qi adapter built inside an iPhone case. It features a 2-piece design (with a bottom portion docking in the connector and a top portion locking the handset in place) and delivers 1 amp of power to the iPhone via wireless charging pads using the Qi standard. 

Devant says Stream is "the first globally available Apple MFi-approved Qi wireless charging case" for iPhones, which will be available in ABS plastic, maple and walnut. 

Artists making use of tablets in music production-- or customers who simply enjoy playing with DJing apps-- might be interesting in the Tuna Knobs, small dials for use with capacitative touchscreens.

A creation of Dutch design company Tweetonig, the Tuna Knobs act as a radial stylus when attached on touchscreens via suction cap. The underside and soft-touch rubber grips on the knobs are conductive, meaning they only control virtual dials and knobs when touched by the users.

Or, as Tweetonig puts it, "simply stick them on your screen and you are ready to start twiddling away."
